Lustig Collection

Accessories of Distinction!

The Lustig Collection includes some of the finest in optical crystal, perfume bottles and blown-glass.  As an example, the Mezuzah Case, freguently carried at Artworks Gallery, is a hand carved glass case that is made to hold a wriiten prayer. The color of this, and all Lustiz crystal, is from a dichroic coating.

Dichroic is multiple micro-layers of metal oxides which give the glass dichroic optical properties. The invention of dichroic glass is often erroneously attributed to NASA and its contractors, who developed it for use in dichroic filters.  Dicrhoic glass dates back to at least the 4th centru AD. The main characteristic of dichroic glass is that it has a transmitted color and a completely different  reflected color, as certain wavelenths of light either pass through or are reflected.  This causes an array of color to be displayed. The colors shift depending on the angle of view.

The Lustig Crystal Cube on base is another truly captivating piece of object art.  Artworks Galley carries different  sizes ranging  from  2″ to 4′” cubes.  Like the Mezuzah, it too has dichroic properites. Lustig International has a tale which says that if you look long enough into this cube you will see your future.
