Linda Wandt is an Austin based representational oil painter who primarily focuses on portraiture and figurative works, though she also enjoys the occasional landscape or honey bee portrait. Originally from Long Island, NY, she moved to Texas in 2000, and earned a BA with a focus on studio art from the University of Texas in Austin in 2006. Her studies also focused on literature and philosophy, topics that heavily inform her work still today. Her more complex staged paintings often use symbolism to create narrative, exploring the topics of identity and duality, although a straightforward figurative practice with live models is also crucial to honing skills. Linda is available for commissioned portraits.
Linda has been showing her work in Texas through local businesses, galleries and art fairs since 2007, has received The Juror’s Choice Award at Art City Austin and most recently was admitted to the People’s Gallery at Austin City Hall, an exhibition spanning 2019.
